National Radon Action Month: A Call to Address the Silent Threat

January, National Radon Action Month, urges awareness and action against the silent threat of radon—a colorless, odorless gas, originating from the soil and known as the second leading cause of lung cancer—highlighting the importance of testing and offering mitigation services through experienced providers like Air & Water Quality.

Are you aware that January is National Radon Action Month? With January being one of the coldest months of the year, it is a great time to test radon in a home or building.

Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that comes from the soil. This gas is made up of radioactive material and is the second leading cause of lung cancer.  Radon gas can also be found in water.

Radon gas enters structures through openings in the foundation. To treat radon, it usually comes by creating a negative pressure barrier across the slab, which is then aerated out of the structure with a series of pipes that start from the interior of the home to the exterior.

At Air & Water Quality, we have been mitigating radon for over 30 years. If you are interested in mitigating radon or starting by conducting a radon test, please contact us at 1-800-698-9655 or fill out our request service form.
